The portrait of my grandparents (Yuri & Olga’s parents.) There’s a lot of family history involved in this portrait. Tunikas was a drunk, a bad husband and father, and was cut out from family photographs by somebody. Only wedding photos remained. The roses are symbols for offspring: 3 black roses for Yuri, Olga and my brother who are no longer with us, and 4 white roses for the rest of us still happily living.  Yuri, the black rose on grandma Stefania’s heart, died very young and broke her heart. She died within a year…
